PADAS RAFTING
First of all let me introduce myself, my name is Tang Yeu and I am the owner of Borneo Proboscis River Lodge. At your request, I usually take care of you personally while you are on this special one day tour! I can speak English, Cantonese, Mandarin, Hakka and our national language Bahasa Malaysia. I am not a guide but if you wish to employ a guide it will cost you RM200. The train journey to the destination is an experience itself with the train looking out of our museum. If you are adventurous you can seat on a open deck steel platform to enjoy our clean country air and scenic views along the route.

The whitewater rafting runs a course of 10 kilometer of grade 3 rapids. There is a dam a few kilometers upstream and when there is heavy rainfall, all the sluices will be opened then the river will turn to grade 4 or 5 whereby rafting will be cancelled. If it is dry season then it will turn into grade 2. You will be equipped with a helmet and a life jacket and for non swimmers, do not worry, you will be seated in a safe position next to an instructor, if you get thrown out you will be able to stay afloat and get back with the help of the rafters. It is very common for non swimmers and children ( including my 11 year old daughter who have been 7 times! ) to join this tour.

The journey will last about one and half hour packed with excitement and fun. You will be able to body raft some of the minor rapids and swim or drift in a stretch of calm river therefore you will need a change of clothing and a towel. The water although muddy looking can be cold and is definitely refreshing!

For those who seek thrill, there is a rodeo seat at the front of the raft where you will be thrown up, down and sideways just like the American rodeo cowboys with the raft lifeline to hang on to.
